The Proof is Usually in the Comments

Below (bottom) is a FaceBook “conversation” I had had at the end of July 2025; it happened below a post, by Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, attacking the ‘left’ as ridiculous Wokes for seeing anything other than a jean ad in that now infamous Sydney Sweeney/American Eagle advert.
Yes, the topic is old news, but the lesson is still relevant.
I had wanted to write up an in-depth post about it back then, but then found myself ‘on the road’ again before I could (While bicycling from Montreal to Patagonia, I had stopped in Guatemala for some weeks and had the time to catch up on all things 'news', but then had to continue on… made my way to Nicaragua, but I’m now back in Guatemala for a few months, maybe more; I’ll offer a quick post to update you all on some details).
However, I no longer feel like spending too much time on the subject, nor do I see a need to reiterate what the ad was about, much having been said about it.
I do want to specify: I have absolutely no doubt that the ad was market tested and that the people behind the campaign knew exactly what they were doing and that their goal was to take advantage of current, loudly expressed sentiments within the U.S., and the West, in order to stir controversy.
We all know the fallout: This has hurt Sydney Sweeney’s career, tremendously; right-wingers don’t flock to the types of movies that were subsequently released (nor offer actual support outside of their direct anti-lib efforts), while liberals and ‘leftists’ who usually do, refused to watch them.
I’d argue that it wasn’t her having partaken in the campaign, per se, that played against her, but that, after its release, seeing the reaction it triggered, it was her willingness to silently play along with—and be a ‘poster girl’ for—the right, and their racist ideals, due to the instant fame she gained amongst them, followed by the empty comment she had made while simultaneously refusing to clarify her stance on the matter when given a fair chance to do so a few months later. She did eventually do so, but only after all her movies suffered amongst the worst box-office earnings ever recorded.
That said, I still do want to share this particular comment and exchange that I had saved. It wasn’t the only one of its ilk that I had come across, but that specific one was definitely jarringly ‘honest’, and I can only conclude that this person felt emboldened to share such a sickening view within a wider public sphere and outside of the white-supremacist circles they surely are a part of, specifically because of this ad and the right’s white-washing efforts of it (pun intended).
You can attack the ‘Wokes’ and call them crazy for complaining about the message that such an ad is sure to send, and how it’s sure to be interpreted by a segment of the population who absolutely shouldn’t have their ideals reinforced, but, these quickly turn into meaningless, embarrassing, tribal attacks when certain types of individuals cheer on such ads and use them to amplify their revolting views, the very same ones that the ‘crazy wokes’ identified as problematic.
If right-wingers like Ben Shapiro want to promote such views, own up to it, instead of always hiding behind idiotic attacks to obscure one’s endorsement of such transparent messaging. Unless, perhaps, what we’re to understand from such behaviour: someone like Shapiro, and other right-wing talking heads, simply aren’t intelligent enough to grasp such clear, unambiguous, far-from-subtle messages?
DW's daily/monthly views are way down. Ironically, beyond Shapiro's staunch pro-Zionism, it's because he pretends to not be what he, in fact, is.
Sowing Hate and Promoting Racism While Denying Doing So
The example below, one of many, reinforces the view that Shapiro may not be bright enough to decipher such messaging, or intelligent enough to comprehend the messages that he and his outfit communicate, given the fact that his site constantly promotes such angles despite his claims that he’s against racist, white-supremacist, extremist ideologies, this while also refusing to see how the right promotes violence against ‘others’.
First off, the Daily Wire (DW) claims that this is an “exclusive”, but a press release was made available to all media outlets and broader public.
Secondly, while the article specifies “told The Daily Wire”, telling us that the quotes from Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin were offered directly to a DW reporter, what’s presented is exactly what’s stated in a DHS statement (which is also repeated in similar DW articles).
Also: The tag line isn’t even connected to the headline; the quote, from the wholly biased, racist, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, is in reference to a whole other case involving an off-duty Border Patrol officer in New York.
I mention those points to highlight the type of manipulation that’s evident. What I won’t spend time on are the clear factual errors seen across most articles, like a piece based on a “local news” story, the event occurring in New York City, though the outlet and story referenced are out of Chicago, which certainly doesn’t qualify as “local” in any way.
The headline—which prioritises blaming Biden—and the DW piece suggest a whole other story and outcome than the one that’s supported by reality. No one was actually stabbed, nor did the charges specify "stabbing".
Basically, at an ICE holding station, a frightened, desperate man grabbed a pair of scissors that shouldn’t even have been within his reach—incompetence on the ICE security guards’ part—and, by waiving them menacingly, after “jabbing himself” several times (per the official, Sealed Complaint (which is publicly available?)), he used them to push back the officers in order to clear a path before trying to escape through a window. The window was sealed shut; he failed, and he was subdued and the scissors removed from him.
Although acting in a very illegal and threatening manner, it seems very clear, if one reads between the lines and attempts to understand the obvious scenario, that Bass Ndiaye had no real intention of stabbing or harming anyone, even if the ICE report and complaint sure do their all to make it look that way, portraying a madman immigrant who almost committed a massacre, if it weren't for the quick action of brave ICE officers.
And, with its misleading headline and by not offering any of the details, DW makes sure that readers interpret the “facts” as if that’s what happened.
What struck me about this and other DW pieces, is the less than zero amount of effort undertaken to humanize Bass Ndiaye and others like him (yes, a negative amount, seeing their efforts to manipulate impressions).
Through DW, what it links to, and ICE and DHS statements and official press releases, we’re meant to believe that ICE and CBP are working super hard, putting agents’ lives on the line, to arrest nothing but “the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens across the United States,” and that the “[v]iolent thugs ICE arrested include child pedophiles, drug traffickers, and burglars.”
However, DHS offers only five such individuals as examples (same as previous link), providing no clear proof, such as indictments or similar, to back their claim. Just five ‘mugshots’.
Yet, TRAC’s stats (above) tell a different story, 73.6% percent of immigrants having been arrested and detained possessing no criminal conviction. AND NOTE what’s stated: ”Many of those convicted committed only minor offenses, including traffic violations.”
Per another TRAC data set, which focuses on the types of criminal convictions that outlets like DW want us to believe that all immigrants arrested by ICE possess, that number goes down to 1.94%.
Here are just a few of the comments that appeared below the FaceBook post promoting this story; the post offered just the headline and the link to the DW story.
These types of comments, and the type of dehumanization seen from DW and others, provide a slight insight into the reaction seen on the right in regard to the murder of Renée Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minnesota.
Beyond that end, I also did want to include these comments as I’ll refer to them in another post regarding those I refer to as “so-called leftists”, finding myself unable to call them “leftists” without qualifying the label in such a manner, or similar.
The second string of comments, above, were as they appeared; the broken lines, on the left, are due to the fact that I hadn't selected the "All comments" option, hence, the reply toggles didn't open to display the replies. These are just the ones I could capture in a single screen shot; they're just a few of the hundred of similar comments.
The Sweeney Convo:
Don’t read too much into it: Yes, I did accept the “Top Fan” badge for Ben Shapiro’s page, but did so cynically, as I found it hilarious that the system would offer it to me given the nature of my many comments, which either directly attacked Shapiro’s posts or challenged other commenters. Plus, I figured it would give me a bit more legitimacy amongst the mindset I pushed back against rather than simply triggering “stupid liberal troll/libtard” responses. Nonetheless, one of my comments did garner over 400 libtard-styled replies. A win?
What I found encouraging in regard to this particular conversation, despite the slew of pro-white sentiments expressed in defense of the Sweeney/American Eagle ad, was how few people joined in to defend Stanislav or—at the time—had ‘liked’ his comment or replies, albeit all the anti-woke-focused comments that did receive hundreds of ‘likes’.
It's not just about blue eyes. Blue eyes and blonde hair is one of the symbols of white people. ONLY white people have these features. Blonde hair, brown, red, ginger... blue eyes, green, hazel, grey. NOBODY else has these features. White people are very unique in the variety of the beauty. However, that is not all. The biggest problem for all others, that on top of such beauty, we (white people) are also by far the best in everything else.... science, innovation, exploration, conquest, engineering, architecture, music composing, sculpture, painting, writing you name it... white people literally pushed this civilization forward... cars, planes, computer, phone, radio, plastics, penicillin, A/C units, electricity... and on and on and on... all white people. But, we have to pretend that white genetics are not better. We absolutely are better.
You've just proven what's wrong with this ad—how white supremacists will interpret its subtle message—as well as how misinformed and deluded you are.
It's not about white supremacy, it's about the truth. People are NOT the same. We ARE different. We have white people who literally created everything around you and we have blacks, that literally contributed nearly zero to the civilization. However, the blacks keep being a huge economic and criminal burden on our society. I can give you nearly endless list of white scientists, composers, writers, explorers, inventors. That still will not be enough. While you can't produce even ONE black Great Person's name. There is no such thing as a black genius. Such words have never been next to each other in the history of humanity. I give you honest and truthful information. You might not like it, you might not feel comfortable with it, it might upset you, but it is still THE TRUTH. You saying to me that I am "misinformed and deluded" is silly without you giving facts, information, logic being such a statement. Average IQ of a black person in USA is 85. Notice how our communication is. I commented on the post. I gave facts, i gave logic, i gave an opinion. You did not counter-argue my opinion. Not at all. Because you're a twisted individual fueled by racist ideology, and I don't interact with such people beyond certain degrees. Contributions by blacks—in white societies—has been immense, despite having been held down for so long or having their work and ideas stolen by whites; do some research. And we owe much to Arabs, Indians, and Asians, without which we wouldn't enjoy the vast majority of what we do today.
