What are DMS&UY's political views?
Today, the 'right' and 'left' political split is just a way of differentiating two main groups in opposition without properly situating each group's political views along the traditional left-right political spectrum that sees degrees of 'dreaded' Socialism on one side and the deceptive freedom of markets on the other, the stagnation of collaboration versus the savagery of pure competition. The US serves the perfect example, main groups being firmly on the right but, the Democratic party being a bit less rightwing on social issues, it gets labelled "the left", the appellation becoming increasingly problematic for some as it's having a ratcheting effect, "left" now identifying lesser degrees of capitalism-focused individualism as "radical communism" should the state pay for anything other than bank bail outs and weapons purchases.
Depending on your location, specifying a left-of-centre position may produce significantly different interpretations of what that entails. Nonetheless, you're safer assuming some kind of left rather than some rightwing position.
Generally, DMS&UY is:
- Anti-war
- Anti-imperialist
- Anti-colonialist
- Pro-choice
- Climate conscientious

If Canadian, why is much of DMS' focus on US politics?
Sure, US politics are far more exciting than most of the world's, albeit that may be for all the wrong reasons considering the very nature of "politics" and what they are meant to be, i.e. by the people, for the people, and all that.
Canadian politics—for now, as tribalism is starting to infect our halls—lives in an entirely different world, one that sees our politicians as people serving a public function, for which they are adequately compensated, and nothing more. Even our politicians can walk the streets freely, not needing a small battalion of secret service men to follow them around everywhere. This has far more to do with one's approach to politics, the power that "money" is allowed to play in general politics, and the treatment one country affords another, than with anything relating to "importance".
Of course, behind the curtains, Canada too often follows the direction set by Washington, for, like Europe and other parts, economic factors and shameless twists of empty, valueless capitalism have turned many nations into US vassals.
As such, as I like to say: When a dog poops all over the place, do you go after the dog or the dog owner?
It seeking a better path for all, ithe only thing that really makes sense is making the US one's focus so long as the US establishment:
- seeks to impose its hegemony and play by its moronic, self-serving "rules-based international order" it decided it was in charge of;
- maintains its 800+ military bases around the world;
- continues to impose control over foreign leaders, opting for endless coup attempts in any country that doesn't bend its way

First off: Thanks for being here.
You may have noticed a particular approach that combines event-driven or objective journalism with academic exposition interspersed with colloquialisms wrapped within an aim to be serious while allowing a sardonicism expressed in a smart-assy style to shine through?
I realize that anyone who doesn't know me may have a hard time drawing the line between what's serious and what's satire, knowing when I'm being genuine or tongue in cheek.
In truth, that only matters if your aim is in knowing more about me; if you read enough of what I put out, over time, I think that line will become clear.
My goal is to provide a different point of view, provoke some reflection, doing so mostly through humour.
You'll notice that streeters don't mince words, nor do they shy away from using or discussing certain terms, nor are they afraid to paint a raw, crude image that's sure to please no one, but you'll surely appreciate
that each instance has a clear, positive goal. Also, it should quickly become clear: on this street, we don't do tribal. Especially so.
